Planning for a high-residential project at Sentul West was indeed a challenge to YTL Land & Development Bhd but the group continued with the decision and it proves to be a success for YTL clinched the International Real Estate Federation (Fiabci) Malaysia Property Award (MPA).
Executive Director Datuk Yeoh Seok Kian said the Maple project in Sentul wasn’t regarded as an ideal location since the township is best known as a forgotten railway town and definitely not a suitable residential area for the people.
The location and product type makes it harder to appeal to potential buyers. Instead of competing against other affluent areas such as Mont’ Kiara and KLCC, YTL Land designed a different living concept that incorporates a private park catered for the community use only.
From the former nine-hole golf course turned into a private park, YTL Land aims to form KL’s first private park with the lush greenery park for community use. The Maple project comprises two 30-storey towers in which each unit comes with a utility room and three bedrooms.
The project won MPA 2008 (Residential High Rise category) and second runner-up at the Fiabci Prix d’Excellence Award 2009. So far, The Maple is one and only residence in KL that is equipped with private gated park. The project was launched in 2003 and foreign nationals account up to 30 percent of the total residents.
