    MRCB to launch RM6 billion project at KL Sentral

    Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd (MRCB) has mapped out a mega project worth around RM6 billion to be launched at Kuala Lumpur Sentral (KL Sentral) and scheduled to be completed by 2016. According to MRCB group managing director Shahril Ridza Ridzuan, the company would launch three million sq ft of space that comprises an office building, 6-star luxurious 200-room St Regis Hotel and two serviced apartment towers.

    He said that the development would begin with St Regis in mid-2010 while the office building is up next. Meanwhile, the two luxurious and grand serviced apartment towers are expected to be launched by 2010 year-end.

    MRCB is reserving the plot of land in front of Jalan Tun Sambathan for the final phase of the mega project. Currently, the company is still determining types of properties to be built on the land. The final decision is set to be announced in 2012.

    So far, the on-going projects at KL Sentral worth RM7 billion comprising three office towers, business class hotel, Nu Sentral Mall and office building for CIMB Investment Group is expected to be completed by 2011/2012.

    He said that the company is negotiating with international operators to handle business class hotel. One of the three office towers with 27-storey will be allocated to Pelaburan Hartanah Sdn Bhd while the other remaining towers would be taken up by interested Korean counterparts.

    Shahril also added that MRCB is bargaining with interested and qualified overseas parties such as China and India in an effort to duplicate similar KL Sentral project in Asia Pacific and Middle East.
